“WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD” – JUNE 18, 2025

“PUT YOUR TRUST IN THE LORD”

Isaiah 40:25-31 NLT

“But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength”

Isaiah 40:31a

Although life is hard, often frustrating and sometimes ‘downright’ unbearable. During these times bad things happen, and that might cause one to wonder if tension between these inevitable truths will cease because on the one hand, bad things do happen, and awful things will happen. When you feel tension, “Look up into the heavens, ‘Who created all the stars?’ He brings them out one after another, calling each by its’ name. Because of His great power and incomparable strength” Isaiah 40:26. God’s power is beyond any human action. Still, God calls each of us by name and empowers us into his plan, for his purpose, brings new strength beyond our comprehension.

Although our life experiences are ever changing as one life event slips into another and those into yet another, God’s has the power to bring hope. For many of us the struggle for equality and justice–true freedom–continues. In as much as inequity persists, Juneteenth Day is a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of freedom and equality. Juneteenth remains a reminder of persistent struggles that happened and do happen. Still, it remains a call to action for continued progress toward a more just society. It is a call for all humanity to reflect and strive for unity in this ongoing justice and equality struggle.

As we strive for a more perfect union, may we allow our focus to be on God’s power more than the upward battles yet to climb. We bring our attention to Christ who is the hope we celebrate because God’s blessings do bring us through challenges. Every step we take in our faith journey brings us closer to God who is the source, who can remove the impediments in this imperfect world and gives us His resources through the guidance of his Holy Spirit to persevere. So, as you walk in the Spirit of God, embrace His grace, listen to the sound of Christ’s words and let them bring you closer into a holy action, “Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father” (Matthew 5:16).

Although our missteps are as present as the correct ones, still rely on God whose blessings come through His active and loving presence. With the power of God, we can build a lasting community filled with the hope for all. Allow faith to be the foundation of your life in Christ. Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts! (1 John 5:10a) God is active in this world even in the best of time and in the worst of time. God soloved this world, that He sent Jesus to call each of us into action. “All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called according to God’s purposes.” (Romans 8:28) You may not always feel strong while you’re looking for God to manifest his promises, his eminent power. But while you wait, and it can be surely tough, be steadfast, put your Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Remain faithful in every, single, tiny thing you’ll ever face in your life from the moment of your salvation until the day you die. Those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint . (Isaiah 40:31a)

Amen.
