WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD – JANUARY 28, 2026

“GOD’S TRUTH IS ACTIVE”

Ephesians 2:19-22 NRSV

“So, then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.”

Members in the family of God live in response to Christ’s love for us. Therefore,”Love one another. As I have loved, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples (John 13:34-35). Then living in Christ’s love, we treat others not for what they deserve or who they are, but by God’s boundless love that transcends all human understanding. Our response to his love continues, for as we participate in all matters through his grace we offer comfort, guidance, and unselfish kindnesses.

God Grace is offered for all, “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). This means if our spiritual attitude is one of response to God’s loving actions, then our overall attitude must be one of proclaiming God’s loving actions to a world in need of good news. As such, our status is not as citizens of earthly nations, but as citizens in God’s Kingdom, living for that day when God’s love is what unites humans together, loving care for each other. Our aim should look like this: We are to live in this life for the sake of the Good News of Jesus Christ, being all things to all people, living in peace, being unified in diversity, equality, and inclusivity.

Proclaim reconciliation to all who long for the love that will never evaporate, the righteousness that will never corrupt, the good shepherd who always brings the lost lamb home. Be reconciled in truth, grow in his grace as loving family members, as God intends us to be.

Amen.
