God views motherhood through the love of all those who participate in his purpose as a powerful and comforting force. That comforting force relies on Christ who is Hope. The God of Hope emphasizes the unconditional, never-ending nature of mothering, highlighting her or his capacity for strength, wisdom, and courage. The significant influence mothering has on faith and development in spiritual growth and a life of faith is God’s intended purpose. God is always faithful and gives grace in time of need.
God’s grace is Christ. He is the hope that brings eternal life. His hope is a confident expectation and desire for a good future, rooted in God’s promises. It’s not wishful thinking because it is for certainly based on faith in Jesus’s sacrifice, resurrection, and the promise of eternal life. This is the stability necessary for motherhood that builds on the courage, and a sense of purpose. Christ is hope who brings joy, peace, consoling comfort for us to know we are not alone. When we suffer, he suffers with us. When we are uncertain in difficult circumstances, he draws us nearer in relationship to him as we are tied to faithfulness with him because faith is the substance of things hoped for. His hope is a “living hope” in the new life and eternal inheritance we have in Christ.
Faithfully we seek the Spirit of God for deeper understanding, growing in spirit and truth of his word, 1 Corinthians 13:13 – “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” At the heart of spirituality is the capacity to experience God’s love and presence in our daily life. It’s assurance to find that God is indeed present wherever we are. When have you experienced an amazing and exciting place where God’s work was needed most? Are you still looking forward to the amazing mission God calls for you to do? Perhaps your mission is in your family, in your workspace, in your community, or maybe globally. Jesus is the sole and only pathway to fulfilling that eternal living he offers to all the world. God’s mission field may be daunting for somebody.
Instead, do not avoid relying on Christ, nor be fearful, but start with the Word of God. For his Word tells us, we are known by the Shepherd. We are known because we belong in the Shepherd’s care. What does this mean? We are known by God. Jesus is our Shepherd. Motherhood is a calling to be good shepherds living and working in God’s delight. It is important to remain encouraged and be encouragers to each other, finding strength and guidance in God’s Word while being positive influences together. In Christ is Hope. He is the Hope who carried the cross for us, died on the cross for us, but the cross could not hold him from his love. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him. Hope overflows with love. Amen.
