“TRUST IN GOD’S ABUNDANT PROMISES”
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasureably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
Ephesians 3:20 NIV
Sometimes we set limits on what we think is possible in our lives.Whether it’s because of past disappointments, fear, or our own understanding, we may pray with small expectations. Ephesians 3:20 encourages us to shift our perspective. It is a call to remember that God is far greater than anything we can envision or request.
God’s power is not constrained by our human boundaries. We might see obstacles, but God sees opportunities. We might think in terms of what we deserve, but God blesses us out of his abundant Grace. Our prayers may be small, but God’s plans are beyond our imagination. When we truly believe God can do more than we ask or imagine, it strengthens our faith. We can face challenges with confidence knowing that his power is at work. We gain hope in uncertain times and we are motivated to dream bigger dreams.
God’s power is available to everyone. When Paul talks about the power that works within “us,” he is referring to both the Gentiles and Jews who have surrendered their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. This power is not exclusive to a select few, it is available to all who accept him. So, you see you don’t have to be a legacy member or a big donor to access God’s power. If you need it (and you do), God’s power is available to you. You don’t have to be perfect or flawless with a certain pedigree. Just as Paul told Timothy to “stir up the gift of God” that was already within him. It’s the same for us. We have power within; we just need to be willing to use it the RIGHT way and that’s for the glory of God.
Notice that there are times of potential challenges that we will face. Sometimes we expect God to work immediately or in a certain way. When things don’t happen as quickly or how we imagined, it can lead to disappointments or frustration. It’s important to remember that while God can do immeasureably more, his plan may not always align with our personal desires. What we think is best just may not be his ultimate purpose for us.
Ephesians 3:20 invites us into a life of bold faith and radical trust in God’s power. Even when we can’t see how, we can rest assured that He us working on our behalf and beyond whatever we could ask or imagine. All you need to do is open your heart, surrender your will and give your hands to Him. Then trust him to exceed your expectations and allow his power to move freely within you. He is always working for our good and his glory. Amen.
