God is active in this world even in the best of time and in the worst of time. God loves this world, and He calls for action. “All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called according to God’s purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Still life is hard, often frustrating and sometimes ‘downright’ unbearable. And these are times we see that bad things do happen, that we might wonder if God is not lining up the universe for our good. What happens when people have cross-purposes while claiming to be called? Tension between two inevitable truths—on the one hand, bad things—awful things—will happen. It’s why we embrace God’s power that is beyond any human action. God works in our lives, enriches us in ways beyond our imagination.
Although our life experiences are ever changing as one’s life event slips into another and those into yet another, each one carries with it a range of possibilities and dangers. Yet, the capacity to choose right and wrong or something that exists between the two is ever possible. And because our misste[s are as present as the correct ones, we must rely on God whose blessings come through his active and loving presence.
When informed media capitalizes on Black History, the focus is the ongoing uphill battles people have had to climb—and continue to climb—but at the core are numerous accomplishments. Still, this brings attention for increased justice. Recently, we celebrated Juneteenth nationally and in our beloved communities, recalling the blessings through challenges. In the process, we give thanks to God who can remove the impediments in this imperfect world, gives us resources to participate, and to become united for democracy. May we also reflect on this Fourth of July weekend building healthy relationships with unity as the core focus.
Because this is the time for us all to say, “We’re still here. We’re here in community as a people of God, embracing and sharing Truth, working together in God’s intentionality for humanity. Walk in the Spirit of God so your wants don’t overwhelm you. But focus beyond that which you think you see. Pray and listen with spiritual intent. “Let your light so shine before all humanity that they may see your good works.” (Matthew 5:16)
The love of God prevails. Allow faith to be the foundation of your life in Christ. Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts! (1 John 5:10a) Remain faithful in every, single, tiny thing you’ll ever face in your life from the moment of your salvation until the day you die. If you’re honest, you may not always feel strong while you’re looking for God to manifest his promises, his eminent power. And while you wait, and it can be surely tough, be steadfast, put your trust in the LORD…
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Amen!
