WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD”

“WHAT ARE YOU BATTLING THAT’S HARD TODAY?”

“So. my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.

Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT

Have you ever been blindsided by something in your life that you didn’t see coming? Perhaps it was a financial or relational dilemma, an unexpected health problem or the loss of a job or the devastating loss of a Loved one.

First Peter 5:8-9 describes the enemy Satan as a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. But if you look a little closer, these verses also say we can “resist him, standing firm in the faith.” NIV. You see the battle and darkness are real. So is our God! He is always with us and in his strength we can make it through another day!

Are you battling something hard today? God is with you. Just as our scripture admonishes us, “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 a-b). It’s hard to stand when you’ve been knocked down repeatedly. Even when you are overwhelmed you can live to face another day, as you place your trust in God and his love for you. Listen to the paraphrases of the following scriptures: John 15:5; 2 Corinthians 1:8-9, and Ephesians 5:20. Listen and hear it as if God the Father himself is speaking directly to you.

Do not resist or run away from the difficulties in your life. These problems are not random mistakes; they are hand-tailored blessings designed for your benefit and growth. Embrace all the circumstances that I allow in your life, trusting Me to bring Good out of them. View problems as opportunities to rely more fully on Me. When you start to feel stressed, let those feelings alert you to your need for Me. Therefore, your needs become doorways to deep dependence on Me with increasing intimacy between us. Although self-sufficiency is acclaimed in the world, reliance on Me produces abundant living in my kingdom. This means that our labor matters for eternity because He’s at work in us and others.

E[hesians 5:20 tell us, “To give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” So, lean hard on God in His Word and in prayer. At the end of each day you will be standing. It’s easy to give into fear, sadness, anger or worry, but God wants us to trust Him today and leave the past and future with Him. When we do, we find the strength to stand firm and immovable. If you feel an area of your life is falling apart, I want you to remember that God sees you and is faithful. You are never alone–God is with you and His love and protection are “Unfailing.” Know that when you feel that you’ve hit “Rock Bottom,” He is the Rock that catches you and saves you from others as well as yourself. Make this your daily mantra in all things, “I’m trusting You Jesus.”

To God be all the glory for the great things He has done, is doing and continues to do in our lives. Amen!
