We should always strive to do what is good for each other and everyone. When God called Abram, he made a profound covenant and promise, not just to bless him, but to make him a blessing to others. This reveals an important truth: God’s blessings are not meant to stop with us. They are meant to flow through us.
To be a blessing means to live in such a way that others experience God’s love, goodness and grace because of your actions, words, and presence. It can be simple as offering a kind word, helping someone in need, or praying for a friend going through a difficult time.
Jesus remoinds us in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” You see each day presents opportunities to reflect the heart of God. Whether we realize it or not, someone is watching how we live out our faith. Our kindness, patience, generosity, foregiveness and love can be the very thing God uses to draw others close to him.
Even in tough seasons, we can still be a blessing. Sometimes our greatest impact comes not when everything is going right for us, but in the midst of a storm, when we trust God and serve others despite our own struggles. The Apostle Paul reminds us, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIV).
We are to be conduits of God’s Grace and Goodness iun a world that desparately needs it. We don’t need a platform, a title, or wealth to be a blessing. Sometimes the most powerful blessings come through:
- A kind word to a weary soul
- A prayer for a friend in need
- To show up with joy and gratitude
- A listening ear or just your presence
- A phone call or a meal
Remember, someone’s “breakthrough” might be connected to your obedience to be a “Blessing” today. Let’s not grow weary in doing good, but instead thank the Lord for the many ways we’ve been blessed, both seen and unseen. Let us not hold on to our blessings too tightly, but share them freely with anyone in need. Then let us ask the Lord to keep us opened to opportunities to be a blessing today and always in Jesus’ name. AMEN!
