THE UNCHANGING NATURE OF GOD

Hebrews 13:8 NRSV

“Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

In a world where things are changing rapidly, where the fast pace of living has become hectic, and where it’s so easy to feel left behind, left out, and bewildered; a world in which values have been compromised and society seems teetering on the brink of moral collapse. It’s tremendousely comforting to know that we have a compass that points true, a God who speaks clearly, and a Savior who never changes. The Word of God is clear and consistent. When we follow it, our moral compass remains constant.

In today’s era, soon after the purchase the latest technology devices, they become it is outdated by the time you get them home. Things are changing so fast that there is a part of us that wants to stay in that same sweet safe place that we remember from our past. But change is a part of nature.

Navigating in a changing world, we should bring our attention to God’s unchanging nature and enduring love in life’s experiences. While the world is in constant flux, God’s word, character, and promises to remain steadfast. Such a time as this, we are called to adapt being transformed by the renewing of our mind, discerning God’s will, and being rooted in faith we are guided by the Holy Spirit’s phenominal wisdom to engage with the world, rather than in the worldliness (Romans 12:2).

Some may feel in crisis, witnessing global upheaval that is familiar from history but new to most of us. Life changes are inevitable. How we respond matters because it reflects on our outlook, on our adaptation, and often determines its effect in our lives. We read or hear stories of those who have overcome extreme life circumstances, and we may wonder about the possibiilities in ways to maintain perspective.

Maybe we ponder these questions into our perspective renewal. Is it possible to rise above the inforeseen circumstances? What leads us into action to inspire others that are manageable? How do we prepare for advanced aging since we already know God could extend our lives beyond the ability to perform self-care?

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord (James 5:13-14). In our efforts to accept, to anticipate change, attend to small changes, adapt to change, assess, admit our needs, and ask for and accept assistance, God’s nature is unchanging. In our relationship with Christ, who quiets our fears, and fills our cup with redemption. God is available and calls us to respond.

Let us pray: God allow me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference that I may particiate in your intentional plan. Glorify Be to God Almighty! Amen.
