God’s love is holy and redeeming, and God calls people to love as Christ has loved. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy’.

AND NOW THESE THREE REMAIN: FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE. BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE.

Paul provides a theological rationale for a mutual aid project. This meditation on power and weakness is a reminder along similar lines: if we take time to ponder on much or little outward power any of us has — we are still vulnerable.

People often excuse their selfishness, pride or evil, by claiming their rights. I can do whatever I want because I’m not hurting anyone. But as believers, we should have a different attitude, one that enables us to lay aside our rights in order to serve God and others.

Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest for a while.

So, Moses wrote this entire body of instruction in a book, and gave it to the priests, who carried the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, and the elders of Israel. The Moses gave the command: At the end of every seventh year, the Year of Release during the feast of the Festival of Shelters, you must read this Book of Instruction and learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully obey all the terms of these instructions.
