“WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD”
JANUARY 7, 2026
“GOD RESTORES WHAT TIME HAS WORN”
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 NIV
There are seasons in life when weariness settles deep within our soul; you know when Joy feels distant, Hope feels fragile, and Faith feels stretched. Also, when Circumstances, Losses, or Prolonged Waiting leaves us longing for something fresh. In those moments, God does not merely offer comfort, He offers Renewal. Scripture reminds us that renewal is not wishful thinking. It is the faithful work of a Promising-Keeping God who is never finished with His people. The God that we serve is a God of Renewal, Restoration and Unchanging Promises.
Through the prophet Isaiah, God speaks hope into a weary people. Though Israel had known failure, exile and brokenness, God declared that the past would not have the final word.
Renewal is God Breathing Life into Us Again. Renewal is not merely starting over. It is God reviving what has grown tired. In Lamentations 3:22-23, we are reminded that “His mercies never fail. They are new every morning.” Each day we wake up, we are awakened into fresh mercy. God’s renewal meets us where we are, not where we wish we had been. He renews our strength when we are weary, our minds when we are confused, and our spirits when we feel depleted. “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31.
Restoration is God Healing What is Broken. Restoration often begins quietly. God makes a way in places where none seem possible—wilderness places of grief, disappointment, or uncertainty. Restoration speaks of God’s ability to redeem what hasbeen lost, damaged, or delayed. Joel 2:25 promises, “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” God does not waste pain. He gathers the fragments of our lives, broken dreams, missed opportunities, wounded hearts, and restores them with purpose, hope, joy, trust and grace. Restoration doesn’t always mean returning things to how they once were. Often it means God making them better than before, deeper in faith, stronger in wisdom, and richer in trust.
Promises: God Keeps His Word. God’s promises are the foundation of our hope. Unlike human promises, His Word never fails. Numbers 23:19 declares that God does not lie nor change His mind. What He has spoken over your life still stands. Even when circumstances suggest otherwise, God remains faithful. His promises remind us that our future is secure, not because of our strength, but because of who He is–His character, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are Yes in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:20.
A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT: If you find yourself waiting, or wondering, take heart God is renewing your strength, restoring your soul, and fulfilling His promises in His perfect time. What feels delayed is not denied. What feels broken is not beyond repair. Just Trust the Process. Trust the Promise and above all Trust the Promise-Keeper. So, let us continue to place our Hand and Hope in God and His Word, even when we cannot yet see the outcome. He will deliver you with His Love and Mercy. To God Be All the Glory for the Great things He’s about to do! Amen.
